I have always had a passion for jewelry design. And, when it came to adornment, I have always "marched to the beat of my own drum." I began selling my designs in beauty salons in my local area to support my daughter while she was in college. Eventually, I developed a following and was asked by one Salon Owner if I had more "elaborate pieces." This sprung into experimenting and incorporating all metals in design. I subsequently found that what I liked to do had now become a "passion."
When "design" becomes "passion" it is no longer work but defines who you are. I'm also thankful to my Dad who was an artist. And, because of him and his spirit that lives within me, I embrace jewelry design in a unique way and understand that it too is one of the truest art forms. My Daughter and I Gemstone Designs also incorporates vintage pieces and vintage thought in some of our work.
I pay homage to the great African American jewelry designer Art Smith who inspires me in design. I also have a love of Egyptian and African motif as well. You will find that not only do we incorporate semi-precious and precious stones in our designs but also mixed-media, fibers and metals. It is my hope that you enjoy my designs as much as I love creating them. I'm confident that if you're looking for that one-of-a-kind, unique piece, you will find it here at My Daughter and I Gemstone Designs.
